Facebook is a social networking website that is operated and privately owned by Facebook, Inc. Since September 2006, anyone over the age of 13 with a valid e-mail address (and not residing in one of the countries where it is banned) can become a Facebook user. Users can add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves. Additionally, users can join networks organized by city, workplace, and school or college. The website's name stems from the colloquial name of books given at the start of the academic year by university administrations in the US with the intention of helping students to get to know each other better.
Mark Zuckerberg founded Facebook with his college roommates and fellow computer science students Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes while he was a student at Harvard University. The website's membership was initially limited by the founders to Harvard students, but was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University. It later expanded further to include (potentially) any university student, then high school students, and, finally, to anyone aged 13 and over. The website currently has more than 400 million active users worldwide.
The original concept for Facebook was borrowed from a product produced by Zuckerberg's prep school Phillips Exeter Academy which for decades published and distributed a printed manual of all students and faculty, unofficially called the "face book".
Facebook has met with some controversy. It has been blocked intermittently in several countries including Syria, China, Vietnam, and Iran. It has also been banned at many places of work to discourage employees from wasting time using the service. Privacy has also been an issue, and it has been compromised several times. Facebook settled a lawsuit regarding claims over source code and intellectual property. The site has also been involved in controversy over the sale of fans and friends...

Dear Friend,
Following yet another round of Round Tables on the next draft amendment to the National Trust Act, I forward the following welcoming news:
The Expert Group which met on 22nd March at NALSAR made the strongest proposal for the inclusion of all disabilities under the broader rubric of "Legal Capacity and Support Act, 2010". There were very few people who argued for not including mental illness. The Act also allows for a range of positive rights and rights linked community services.
Many of us in the mental health sector feel the MHA at our door step, but have a far away view of NTA, as it has not applied to us so far.
However, we should strongly advocate for the present amendment to go through on inclusive legislation.
If the MHA is controversial on many fronts, the NTA is not: All of us, whatever our other persuasions, agree that mental illness must be included in the NTA. If the NTA comes in, the regime of guardianship established until the MHA will also be dismantled.
The battle is far from over. The Board of the NTA with staunch anti-inclusion advocates such as Parivar, is meeting on the April 7th to decide the fate of the recent amendment. We have many allies within the subcommittee which is taking the amendment proposals before the Board.
It is most important that all of us from the disability and mental health sector ply the ChairPerson, and the NTA Board, with petitions and staunch appeals on inclusion, giving reasons why.
Please do write to Ms. Poonam Natrajan, Chair Person, National Trust at enable@vsnl.com as soon as possible.
Do forward this email to other friends in the disability movement.
Best
Bhargavi Davar.
